What Smart Alerts track
Smart Alerts cover both AI visibility signals and traditional ranking changes:AI mention change
AI mention change
Triggers when your brand’s appearance rate in AI-generated answers increases or decreases by a threshold you set. Use this to catch both sudden drops in visibility and meaningful gains worth celebrating or investigating.
Position improvement
Position improvement
Triggers when your brand moves to a higher position band in AI answers — for example, moving from being mentioned third to being mentioned first in responses to a tracked query.
New AI platform mention
New AI platform mention
Triggers the first time your brand is detected on an AI platform Linkstonic hasn’t previously seen you mentioned on. Useful for tracking when your brand breaks through to a new AI answer engine.
Mention count threshold
Mention count threshold
Triggers when your brand’s raw mention count across AI platforms crosses a number you define. Set both upper and lower thresholds to catch surges and drops.
Keyword position drop
Keyword position drop
Triggers when a tracked Google keyword falls below a rank threshold you set. Combine with AI visibility alerts to separate traditional SEO volatility from AI answer changes.
Competitor activity
Competitor activity
Triggers when a new competitor brand is detected in AI-generated answers alongside yours for a tracked keyword. Use this to stay ahead of competitive encroachment in AI results.
Alert delivery channels
Email
Available on all plans. Alerts are delivered as individual emails immediately when a trigger fires, or consolidated into a weekly digest if you prefer a summary format over per-event emails. Configure your preference per alert.
Discord webhooks
Discord webhooks
Available on Pro and Agency plans. Configure a Discord webhook URL per alert so notifications route to the specific channel most relevant to that keyword or brand. See Discord Webhook Setup for configuration steps.
Combined batched alerts (Agency)
Combined batched alerts (Agency)
Available on Agency plan only. Merge alerts across multiple brands into a single notification to reduce noise when you’re monitoring several clients simultaneously. Configure batching intervals from the Alerts dashboard.
Set up an alert
Choose the trigger type
Select what should fire the alert: AI mention change, position improvement, new platform mention, mention count threshold, keyword position drop, or competitor activity.
Select keywords and brands
Choose the keyword(s) and brand(s) this alert should monitor. You can scope an alert to a single keyword or apply it across all tracked keywords for a brand.
Choose delivery channels
Select Email, Discord, or both. For Discord, paste your webhook URL into the field that appears. If you need to create a webhook first, see Discord Webhook Setup.
Set the threshold
Define the sensitivity of the trigger. For example: mention rate drops by more than 10%, keyword ranking falls below position 20, or mention count exceeds 500 per week. Thresholds vary by alert type.
Manage your alerts
From the Alerts dashboard you can:- Edit any alert to adjust thresholds, delivery channels, or keyword scope.
- Pause an alert temporarily without deleting it — useful during site migrations or campaigns when elevated volatility is expected.
- View alert history to see every trigger event over the past 7, 90, or 365 days (depending on your plan). The history log shows the trigger type, the value that crossed the threshold, and the timestamp.
Discord webhook setup requires a Discord server where you have permission to create webhooks. If you’re posting to a server you don’t manage, ask a server admin to create the webhook and share the URL with you.
